Water Pollution

When people overload the water environment with wastes water pollution occurs. Water pollution is a contamination of lakes, streams, underground water, oceans or bays by harmful substances to living things.

Water is one of the most necessary things to life on earth. All organisms need it, some of them drink it and some live in it. Animals and plants need moderately pure water and they cannot live if water is loaded with harmful microorganisms or toxic chemicals. Polluted water can kill large numbers of birds, fishes and other animals and in few cases killing all the species in a affected area.

Pollution makes unpleasant to look at, lakes, streams and coastal waters to smell and to swim in. Fish and other sea foods harvested from polluted water may be unsafe to eat. People who intake polluted water can become ill and if they continue it for long time, may develop cancers or their may result it birth defects.

Point source and non-point source are two types of water pollution. Point source pollution occurs when harmful substances are directly put into a body of water, like an oil spill. Non-point source occurs when pollutants through environmental changes enter the water indirectly.

The Importance Of Libraries

We always require to refer certain books or the other. We cannot afford to buy all the books that we need or would like to read. Moreover, most people these days live in flats/apartment complex, so there is less space to keep books. So libraries are necessary. Libraries also have rare collection of books, which can always be referred to according to our requirements. These days circulating libraries are there in all areas of the city. Most of the good schools have good libraries, which is quite useful to students. They have reference material for school subjects and fiction too. For some people libraries have become an essential part of their life. Even retired persons spend their time reading newspapers and books available in libraries. People who cannot afford to buy dailies or books also make good use of the libraries on a regular basis. For students spending some of their leisure in libraries regularly can build up their general knowledge and keep abreast of the current topics. Everyone should have access to books. It is also very important to preserve books and magazines for future reference.

Water Problem In Urban Areas

The water problem has been acutely felt in the urban areas. Droughts occur every now and then and every time the rains fall the state suffers. The government provides water through tankers but that is not enough. The water supplied thus is often inadequate. The scarcity of water is mainly felt during the summer months. Those who can afford, sink bore wells but with underground water being exploited to a great extent, bore wells too do not yield water. Many people have to buy water from private water suppliers. Permanent measures for this scarcity in water is necessary. More reservoirs have to be built, so that when it rains copiously, the water is stored and can be used while the demand is more. Rain water harvesting should be made compulsory in all buildings. Desalination plants should be set up in all coastal cities. Keep the city less congested and planning for the needs of the city are the best ways to avoid the inconvenience caused to the public due to water shortage.
There should be adequate supply of drinking water to all households, especially during the summer months

Adult Education

India is a free and democratic country. A country can be great if its citizens are honest, hard working, and educated. In other words the success of a country depends upon its citizens. Therefore, its citizens should be educated ones so that they share their responsibilities honestly and rightly in a democratic system. Without education they will not be able to understand what is right and what is wrong. So, for the success of the country it is necessary to educate its illiterate people. Government is trying hard to remove this illiteracy from the country. So, government had started the national adult education programme. Not only the government, but also some private organizations are also working for it. Separate departments for adult education have been opened. The adult education system even provides jobs to unemployed persons. There are some people who after getting adult education, have taken up the job of educating other illiterate adults. Some more social organizations should come forward to take up this challenging job and help in removing illiteracy from India. If this programme is run in full scale, India soon will be successful and will progress greatly. Success of this scheme will bring glory to the country.

Drug Addiction

Drug addiction has become a serious problem and the reasons for that are not difficult to find. The situations existing at home can be a major contributory factor for the youngsters falling an easy prey to this habit of drug addiction. In most family during these days, we find the parents are working during the day and have very little time to spare for their children or give the required attention they need. As a result, the youngsters easily fall into uncongenial company. In order to eradicate this problem of drug addiction from our society, the parents should be more responsible towards their children and spend more time with them hearing to their problems. Our educational system is also to be blamed for not giving students the right kind of direction and guidance. There should be provision for moral education and sufficient extra-curricular activities, which can help in putting physical and mental energies of the students towards constructive purposes. Also, inexpensive hobbies and sports clubs should be made available, so that the leisure hours of the youngsters are spent constructively. The law should be implemented severely to penalise those found guilty of selling drugs or encouraging people to take drugs. It is up to us in the society to prevent youngsters from falling prey to such terrible habit and to help those who are already addicted.

Look Before You Leap

Look before you leap applies to every activity that we do in life. A simple action like crossing the road can end up in fatal consequences if we do not look at either sides of the road before we cross. So, one should be very careful even if one is in a great hurry. Also, important decisions that we make even though it appears simple, should be carefully planned and executed. It also happens that students get carried away by their parents when it comes to choosing their career. So, it becomes necessary for the students to choose their own career of interest so that they do not regret in the future. One should look for his job which gives mental satisfaction instead of the taking up the first thing that comes in his way. Thus, every action in life let it be a major or minor decision should be given a careful thought, so that it is beneficial to all concerned. One should be very careful before committing to anything. This would lead one to be sure of oneself and be confident in whatever one does, so that he succeeds in life.
